Technical Assistance to Advocates Working to End Harmful Mandated Reporting Practices

Through our work with Children’s Rights, New Tomorrow provides technical assistance to the NY Mandated Reporter Working Group (MRWG). The MRWG is a visionary coalition of advocates comprising of lived experts, organizers, social scientists, researchers, legal and policy experts, and others working to eliminate harmful mandatory reporting practices in New York state by developing policy and legislative solutions.

Mandatory reporting practices are considered harmful by impacted communities and is shown in the research to undermine child and family safety and well-being.

New Tomorrow supports the coalition through research and analysis of child-welfare and community-level data, and, through designing and facilitating informational interviews and listening sessions to inform the coalition’s development of policy and legislative solutions.

In addition, New Tomorrow provides overall strategic support as needed, and facilitates processes to support members in naming priorities and action steps.
